Meet the Staff – More About Our Sussex Osteopaths

The team at Osteopathy For All is our biggest asset. We are proud to have a dedicated team of registered osteopaths that are not only professional, but caring and sympathetic to your needs.

Each member of our team is trained to help you to receive the best course of treatment and aid you on your journey to recuperation from pain and discomfort. We pride ourselves on operating a welcoming and all-inclusive space, as we help people from all walks of life.

Our Team of Sussex Osteopaths

Our osteopaths are here to find the right treatment for you. As well as all being Registered Osteopaths they are all trained in pain neuroscience, stress illness and mindbody medicine. This means that we take the time to identify and understand the issues you may be facing from a holistic point of view and treat them in a gentle way.

We have a dedicated team of three practitioners, as well as our Practice Manager who helps support the running of our space. All our employees are passionate about helping people on their road to recovery and better health.

Here you can learn more about our Sussex osteopaths and get to know them better before coming in for an appointment.

Pippa Cossens

Sussex-Osteopath-abd-owner-Pippa-CossensPippa is the principal osteopath and owner of Osteopath For All. Graduating from the European School of Osteopathy in 1994, Pippa has a wealth of experience in the practice of osteopathy and is passionate about aiding people’s recovery.

With her diagnosis of fibromyalgia after five years of near constant pain, Pippa has a true understanding of chronic pain and how it can affect your life. During her healing, Pippa found SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioner’s Association). Now trained as a SIRPA practitioner, Pippa has shifted her focus to incorporate the mindbody approach.

Pippa has a special interest in fibromyalgia, chronic pain and anxiety in adults and children. She believes that helping to decrease the tension and stress in the body can help reduce chronic pain and its associated symptoms.

Pippa says: “I am like a stick of rock. If you broke me in two it would say osteopath all the way through. I am passionate about helping my patients, giving them hope and practical care for their recovery. Also, about helping other osteopaths understand and embrace an understanding of a biopsychosocial approach to practice and trauma informed care.”

Paul Harrington

Photo-of-Pual-Harrington-Sussex-osteopathPaul first found his love for osteopathy after sustaining a neck injury and visiting an osteopath for treatment. After this experience, Paul describes it as though something directly connected to his ‘inner calling’ to help those who might be struggling with their health. He went on to graduate from the British School of Osteopathy in 2011.

Over the years, Paul’s concept of osteopathy has broadened. Paul integrates the psychological, social, spiritual and bio-mechanical sides of the human experience into his work. He uses more traditional osteopathic techniques, alongside cranial osteopathy, movement education, massage and self-awareness work.

Paul has a special interest in helping people with chronic pain and psychophysiological disorders. Alongside more traditional osteopathic techniques, he uses his knowledge about pain science, movement education and mindfulness techniques to help people in their recovery.

Paul says “My broad aim is to help integrate the biological, psychological and relational aspects of ourselves, so that healing can unfold and health can express itself…I’m  always looking to grow as a therapist”.

Louise Field

Osteopathic-practitioner-Louise-FieldLouise became an osteopath through her horse riding. After seeing how well horses responded to osteopathic treatment, she learnt that pain could affect the wellbeing of horses and people alike. Louise graduated from the European School of Osteopathy in 2015.

Finding the primary cause of a patient’s pain and helping the body to self-heal is something that Louise finds very rewarding in her work. Louise enjoys the holistic approach that comes with osteopathy and helping people to function better.

Louise has a special interest in wellbeing and helping people to feel more comfortable. She understands that everyone’s expression of health and healing journeys are different and puts the extra effort in with each patient to listen to that.

Louise says “I like to understand the biopsychosocial concept when assessing a patient as there is usually a multifactorial cause to why pain has manifested itself in the body. Since completing the SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioner Association) training it has allowed me to understand the mind body link to a greater extent and implement it within Osteopathy.”

Siân Amy

Our-Practice-Manager-Sian-AmySiân is our wonderful Practice Manager. Her role is to support the practice and manage the administration side of things. Often acting as the first point of contact for new patients, her welcoming personality helps to create a calming atmosphere within the practice.

As well as her role at Osteopathy For All, Siân is a Kundalini yoga and meditation teacher, and she regularly delivers classes and workshops to the local community. Siân has always been passionate about helping people and improving their wellbeing, which is a perfect fit for the team at Osteopathy For All.

Siân says “Having a much better understanding of what Osteopathy is and how it works, I often tell friends and family to seek out their nearest Osteopath, because what I have realised since joining the team is that Osteopaths treat SO much more than just backs!”

Our Role at Osteopathy For All

“We look at the body in health as meaning perfection and harmony, not in one part, but in the whole.” from Andrew Taylor Still – The Philosophy and Mechanical Principles of Osteopathy.

Every one of our Sussex osteopaths uses the mindbody approach. Our team treats a range of symptoms in a holistic way using osteopathic treatments. It is our role to help you to overcome your issues through gentle techniques and ongoing support.

We specialise in identifying, understanding, treating and preventing issues on a person by-person basis. The team share the view that to develop a healthy lifestyle, we need to focus on all parts of the anatomy of a person. Our aim is to improve every patient’s health and wellbeing.
